Job Purpose
At Spectrum Designs Foundation, we believe in the power of different perspectives and talents. Under the direction of the Director of Administration and in collaboration with the Marketing & Development team, the Business Development Specialist will support the growth and expansion of Spectrum Designs’ lines of business by identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, managing sales leads, and promoting the organization’s services and mission. This role plays a key part in strengthening relationships with customers and community partners while helping generate sustainable revenue that supports Spectrum Designs’ mission of creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals on the autism spectrum. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who thrives in a flexible, primarily remote environment while also enjoying in-person relationship building and community engagement.
Work Environment & Travel Expectations
This position is primarily remote and offers flexibility to work from home for the majority of the workweek. However, regular in-person participation is an essential part of the role. The Business Development Specialist will be expected to attend networking events, trade shows, meetings, and community events, as well as occasionally work on-site at Spectrum Designs locations to capture content, support events, and collaborate with team members. Candidates should be comfortably able to travel, as needed, to Spectrum Designs’ locations in:
Port Washington, NY
Pleasantville, NY
Hackensack, NJ
Some evening and weekend availability will be required in connection with events and networking opportunities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Obtain leads using various customer sales methods including email correspondence, phone calls, live presentations, and networking opportunities.
Refer new leads and customers to the customer service team for processing.
Aid with the administration, expansion, and promotion of Spectrum Designs Foundation lines of business in support of the organization’s inclusive employment mission.
Research and apply for bids that align with the organization’s capabilities and strategic goals.
Assist with boosting positive reviews and testimonials on sites such as Google and Yelp to strengthen the organization’s visibility and reputation.
Regularly attend networking events to promote Spectrum Designs’ services, build relationships with potential customers and partners, and expand community awareness of the organization’s mission, occasionally on evenings and/or weekends.
Regularly set up and display as an exhibitor at tradeshows and events, occasionally on evenings and/or weekends.
Assist Marketing & Development team in planning and administrating fundraisers and events on and off site, occasionally in the evenings and/or weekends.
Maintain records of all sales leads and/or customer accounts to ensure effective follow-up and relationship management.
Attend, develop, and advocate for staff development and training that promote the overall quality of program activities and support an inclusive workplace environment.
